Turning at the end of the pool

A smooth turn saves time and energy when you swim longer distances. The open turn works for all strokes, and the flip turn is the fastest turn for front crawl.

You will need

Steps

  1. Start with the open turn

Touch the wall with your hand, pull your knees to your chest and turn onto your side. Your other arm reaches forward under the water.

  2. Push off the wall

  3. Glide in a streamline

  4. Practise a somersault in the middle of the pool

  5. Approach the wall with front crawl

  6. Do the flip turn

  7. Push off on your back and roll over

  8. Practise with repetitions
