Replacing a button or zip
A lost button or a broken zip doesn't mean the end of a garment. You can sew on a button in five minutes, and with instructions you can replace a zip too.
You will need
- Needle and thread
- Button
- New zip (same length and type)
- Seam ripper
- Pins
- Sewing machine and zipper foot
Steps
Sew on the button
Thread the needle with a double thread and tie a knot. Put the button in place.
Leave a shank
Secure the button
Unpick the old zip
Pin the new zip
Tack or pin
Sew with a zipper foot
