Making candles
Home-made candles are a beautiful gift and a fun craft. Soy wax is easy to work with and safe for beginners.
You will need
- Soy wax or paraffin
- Candle wicks
- Glass jars or moulds
- A double boiler (pan and bowl)
- Thermometer
- Candle fragrance oil (optional)
- Clothes pegs to hold the wick
Steps
Prepare the containers
Wash and dry the jars. Fix the wick to the bottom of the container with a dot of glue.
Melt the wax in a double boiler
Watch the temperature
Add the fragrance
Pour the wax
Keep the wick centred
Let it set
Trim the wick
