Making soap
Home-made soap is a welcome gift. The safest method for beginners is melt-and-pour soap, in which a ready-made soap base is melted and shaped.
You will need
- Melt-and-pour soap base (glycerine or shea butter)
- Soap moulds
- Soap colourant and fragrance oil intended for cosmetics
- Dried flowers or oats (optional)
- Microwave or double boiler
- A spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
Steps
Choose a soap base
Melt-and-pour soap is ready-made soap, so you don't need to handle caustic lye. It is a safe and quick method.
Cut up the base
Melt
Add colour and fragrance
Pour into moulds
Remove bubbles
Let it set
