Fixing a dripping tap
A dripping tap wastes water and money. In most cases the fault is a worn washer or cartridge, which you can replace yourself.
You will need
- New cartridge or washer to fit your tap model
- Allen key set and screwdriver
- Adjustable spanner
- Towel and bucket
- Phone for taking photos
Steps
Find out the tap model
Look for the make and model on the tap body or the receipt. You can get spare parts for your model from the manufacturer or a hardware shop.
Turn off the water
Block the drain
Remove the handle
Replace the cartridge or washer
Reassemble the tap
Turn the water on and test
